The Friends of Barclay Park exists to support the preservation, enhancement and maintenance of the Park for current and future generations, so they may enjoy and find calm its natural beauty. We see our role as advocates and caretakers for this historic open space. We seek to be a stimulus of community and civic engagement.
We delight in seeing persons relaxing, walking or playing in the park.
Objectives:
- Protect, preserve, and enhance the Park, including the arboretum, flowers, and historic gate as a preserved in-town open space.
- Celebrate the natural and human history of the Park, its significance as well the inspiring community effort to preserve it.
- Represent and advocate for the Park to the West Chester Borough Parks and Recreation Department, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and Borough Council.
- Work collaboratively with the Borough of West Chester to prioritize and define Park upkeep and upgrade projects
- Raise funds for the mission through membership fees, donations, grants, and fundraising events.
- Create and conduct events and activities in the Park.
- Encourage responsible use of the Park by all visitors.
- Be a focus of community and civic spirit and engagement.
